Safety
At the Sable Project, creating the safest working environment possible is our top priority. We're proud of the progress we have made in safety and of our safety record, but we are always looking for ways to continuously improve our safety performance. We continuously track, investigate and learn from incidents; we constantly work to identify and mitigate hazards; and we demand the most from our employees and contractors.

Risk Assessment and Management

The first step toward mitigating hazards is to identify them. Our process of eliminating potential hazards to our employees, the facilities in which they work, the public and the environment involves detailed hazard identification and comprehensive risk assessment. Using every tool at our disposal, from personal inspection to computer analysis, we strive to attain our primary goals: maintaining flawless operations wherever we do business.

Incident Investigation and Analysis

ExxonMobil Canada makes every effort to prevent incidents from occurring in our operations. One of the most effective prevention strategies is to turn each incident into an opportunity to learn. That's why we continually seek to upgrade the way we report, investigate, analyze, communicate and act when incidents occur.

The first step to reducing incidents and injuries in the future is to understand what caused them in the past. Accurate reporting and investigation is the cornerstone of this endeavour.

Information and Documentation

Information is essential to managing and minimizing risk. Careful documentation of procedures, practices and programs helps identify opportunities to protect safety, health and the environment. It also assures conformance with our standards and compliance with government regulations. As we develop advances and improvements, we record progress and detail setbacks. When we adopt changes, we are confident they will neither create new hazards nor invalidate earlier hazard analysis. Such is the power of information.
