About Us
ExxonMobil Canada has a long and proud history in Atlantic Canada.

More than any other energy company, ExxonMobil Canada has been the leader in the development of the Eastern Canadian offshore.

ExxonMobil's history in Atlantic Canada began more than a half-century ago when in 1943 a subsidiary company drilled the first offshore exploration well in Canadian waters off Prince Edward Island. Decades later, in 1967, we spudded Sable Island No. 1, the first deep test well in the Nova Scotia offshore.

Since that time we have drilled dozens of exploration wells offshore both Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and invested more than $4 billion to develop this new industry that's powering the Atlantic economy -- through projects such as Sable, Hibernia, Terra Nova and the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline.

ExxonMobil Canada is considered the industry leader on Canada’s East Coast and has the largest exploration, production and development portfolio.
